Jamaica’s ongoing recovery efforts following the passing of Hurricane Melissa received a significant boost on Wednesday night (May 27) as the United States Department of State announced an additional US$2.5 million in humanitarian assistance during the American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica (AmCham Jamaica) Business & Civic Leadership and Corporate Social Responsibility Awards and 40th Anniversary Gala, held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

United Way of Jamaica to disburse $100m from J.E.T.S. to Mustard Seed, six schools
The United Way of Jamaica will distribute $100 million in donations from J.E.T.S. Limited in response to the hurricane Melissa relief in the new year. The donations, to be managed by the non-governmental organisation, form a part of the J.E.T.S Corporate Social Responsibility Programme.

Standing Together: Salada packs over 600 packages for affected farming communities
Over 40 staff volunteered to pack more than 600 care packages for farming communities impacted by the passage of Hurricane Melissa at the Salada Foods headquarters in Kingston. Later in the day, Salada turned inward to honour staff excellence with the presentation of its departmental ‘Gem Awards’.
