Jamaica has a new way to take a moment, sip and relax. In September, Salada Foods launched Chai Latte, under its Jamaica Mountain Peak brand.

General Manager of Salada Foods Tamii Brown, revealed that JMP Chai Latte had more than a year of research and development before approaching the market.

“We know Jamaicans love their tea, so within Salada’s promise to innovate, we are bringing chai to market for Jamaicans to try,” said Brown. “Our team has developed a creamy, comforting three-in-one drink that is packed with the warm goodness of real spices. JMP Chai latte for Whatever Life Throws at You!.”

The ready-to-drink packet is formulated with black tea and a masala spice blend of cardamom, cinnamon, clove, ginger as well as piperine and can be consumed hot or cold.

“The team ensures that we utilise piperine, which is an absorption activator and a powerhouse with ginger,” Brown said. “Our Chai Latte has a milder caffeine boost than your usual coffee lattes and naturally contains antioxidants from black tea and spices that are locally sourced.”

Peak Innovation Time

The GM shared that Chai Latte forms part of Salada’s broader strategy to diversify its product portfolio, drive innovation and identify new avenues for growth.

JMP Chai Latte is the seventh innovation from the company in the last 30 months. It joins the range of products including Golden Turmeric Latte with Pumpkin Spice; Jamaica Mountain Peak three-in-one coffee mixes in Original and flavours Cinnameg, Caramel, and Coconut Cappuccino; and the Sorrel Hibiscus Drink that was launched in November 2025.

“We are looking forward to establishing Chai Latte in the Jamaican market as we build consumer awareness and gather market insights that can inform our international expansion strategy,” Brown shared. “Our forward-thinking approach guided the product formulation and packaging designed to meet export specifications. However, market entry will depend on country-specific regulatory requirements, distributor readiness and commercial arrangements.”
