LASCO, in partnership with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has selected its finalists for the prestigious LASCO Saluting Our Heroes ‘Police of the Year’ title. These outstanding officers have been recognised for their exceptional service, leadership, and commitment to public safety and community development within their respective divisions.

The six finalists are: Constable Monique Bartley (Area 1), Corporal Stephen Smith (Area 2), Corporal Rojehn Holt (Area 3), Detective Corporal Chadrick Williams (Area 4), Constable Shantel Powell (Area 5) and Detective Corporal Livey Evans (Non-Geographical Formations).

Before stepping into the national spotlight, the six finalists participated in an Effective Communications Skills Workshop led by Paula-Anne Porter & Associates (PAP) and supported by LASCO’s Corporate Communications Manager, Danielle Cunningham. The session, held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, focused on refining their presentation, poise, and interpersonal communication skills – a fitting prelude to their journey as ambassadors of transformation within the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

According to Paula-Anne Porter Jones, this year’s workshop brought a new dimension of personal engagement.

“This year’s staging of the workshop was a particular pleasure. We had the opportunity to speak with each finalist prior to the session, to understand their communication styles, goals and growth areas. That allowed us to personalise the training – focusing on little areas such as pronunciation, eye contact, and body languages – small yet efficient and effective adjustments that they had not thought of before that can make a difference in the impact that they have in the spaces that they speak,” the Communication Specialist said.

Cunningham applauded each finalist for their confidence, clarity, and composure, which she noted improved throughout the workshop, noting that they embody the LASCO/JCF spirit of transformation.

“This year’s ‘super six’ truly impressed us with their openness and energy,” said Cunningham. “They each brought a sense of purpose to the workshop and demonstrated how storytelling and self-awareness can connect the Force to the communities they serve. As ambassadors, relatability will be their superpower – and this group represents that beautifully.”

Now in its 26th year, the LASCO/LCF Saluting Our Heroes Awards programme, continues to honour the nation’s most dedicated law enforcement officers who exemplify service, integrity, and transformation.

The 2025 theme, “Transforming through PQT (People, Quality & Technology): Celebrating Our Heroes,” mirrors the JCF’s renewed focus on modernisation, excellence and human-centred policing. Each of the six finalists has distinguished themselves through acts of innovation, empathy, and unwavering professionalism in service to Jamaica.

The initiative is powered by LASCO and the LASCO Chin Foundation, whose commitment to nation-building and community upliftment mirrors the JCF’s transformative goals. Through continued investment in education, leadership, and social impact, the programme celebrates officers who embody the spirit of positive change within the Force and across Jamaica.

The 2025 LASCO/LCF Saluting Our Heroes Awards ceremony, where the overall ‘Top Cop’ will be announced, is scheduled for Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
